All of the projects below were design and fabricated in the Harter Made design shop. All materials were locally and sustainably sourced. Due to the equipment in the Harter Made design shop, the most economical grade rough cut lumber can be sourced for the customer and it can be processed to be perfectly usable while keeping the costs down, instead of paying the expensive mill processing fees. The main goal of starting Harter Made was to provide custom designed and fabricated Furniture and Home Goods Items at an affordable price, making custom design and fabrication affordable to more people.
Before fabrication begins, the custom design is approved by the customer and the design is modeled and rendered so the customer can see how the design will look in the area of the home it was made for. This process allows the customer to receive exactly what they want, while also keeping material waste to an absolute minimum. Progress pics are sent to the customers weekly so they can see how far along the fabrication is, to manage expectations. Contact me today to get your dream custom project started!
Desk and shelving were created to maximize the smaller space of the salon, while still adhering to ADA guidelines. The space may be small, but it definitely doesn’t feel that way!
The customer approached me with some images of some Farm Style Lockers that they wanted designed and fabricated for their laundry/mud room. After a round of initial concepts, then a round to make a few revisions, fabrication started and the structure was installed shortly after that. A large project, but a very fun one from start to finish.

A Red Oak tree that the customers grandfather planted many years back was unfortunately felled. So, the family had the tree milled down at their local lumber mill and was split between the several grandkids. It was a fun task creating bench tops, shoe cubbies, shelving and coat racks with the lumber. The “Red Oak Wall” was a fun exercise. I rendered out what it would look like with 3 varying color stains, which convinced the customer to proceed. It turned out amazing! This project is still a work in progress, so as it gets completed I will add more pictures.
This LED Backlit House Number Sign was custom designed as a house warming gift. A version of this will be available in the Shop, but the customer paid for exclusive rights to this design. The wood frame was CNC cut from rough cut Cherry Hardwood. The number plate was CNC cut from 1/8″ thick aluminum and mounted to a piece of laser cut acrylic. Last but not least, the receiver of the gift is a big user of the Philips Hue brand of lights, so the Philips Hue brand LED lights were used to edge light the acrylic backer panel. This affords the user the ability to change the back lit color to whatever suits their mood for the day.
